Chronic Pain: I Don’t Want to Burden Others

Psalm 68:19 – Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.
Many times I keep pain to myself because I don’t want to burden others. But hiding and then pushing yourself to cover up just how bad things are only pushes you to the brink physically and mentally. We must risk revealing how we feel, but without a “whinny” vocabulary. On the other side, I may be afraid to talk to others, but they still need to know what I need and want. Remember, there is one who never tires of listening to you even if you’re using that “whinny” vocabulary. The Holy Spirit can help you know how to pray even if it’s only one word – Jesus. There’s power in that name and there’s power in our reaching out to God. So the next time you feel your pain spinning out of control, don’t hide it. I know you don’t want to burden others, so turn to God with your complaints and then let others know what you need and how they can help. He will carry your burdens.
