Romans 8:1 – Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Countless people experience a mental illness. Yet, I’ve often felt guilty, and as if this is a terrible sin for “giving in” to a depression medication. There are many reasons for someone to experience depression, like being depressed, because of a medical condition, where taking anti-depressants is necessary for their health. I experience depression for that reason. Especially, for the daily grind of chronic pain. So does this mean that I’m not walking in faith or depending on God enough? I don’t think so. God can use medicine to bring health and peace to our lives, but I would also say that I find help in the Bible; also, by memorizing verses about God’s faithfulness to us and that he will never leave our side. So, drop the condemnation, seek and ask God for wisdom, and let your heart be free from the judgment you might otherwise feel.
