Job 4:4 - Your words have supported those who stumbled; you have strengthened faltering knees. There are many things you can say that would help someone, but here’s a few things people say which don’t help from mindandsoul.com: “Pull yourself together”, “we all feel like that sometimes but you have to snap out of it”, “it’s your own fault”, “there’s no such thing as depression you’re just feeling sorry for yourself”, “why can’t the doctors do anything”, or “you should just stop taking all those pills and just trust God”. Each one of these statements makes me sad inside. God wants us to love others and lift them up when they are down. Do people often say things to you that are hurtful instead of helpful? What are some of them and how did they make you feel? I look forward to hearing from you.
