Matthew 10:19 – But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say. In the distance you see someone you know coming your way. They’ve been sick with a disease that causes great pain for some time. In the flash of a moment, your thoughts are running quickly into your head wondering if they saw you or not. Maybe you could just turn down the next isle and get away without having to get into a long discussion on how they’re doing. In some ways you want to know how they’re doing, but then, what would you say? Just saying “hello” is a start. Don’t turn away and run from them. What you don’t know is a few kind words to someone in pain can bring hope and a healing balm to the soul. Keep walking toward them. You may be the only person they see all day that wants to at least try to be there for them. And God wants us to reach out to those suffering. Trying to figure out what to say and wondering what they’ll say back to you is no reason for letting them down. God is the god of all wisdom. Say a quick prayer as you walk toward them and he will give you the words to say.
