Luke 8:24 – The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided and all was calm The wind is blowing hard outside today, as it has been with each of the last few storms. It howls and shakes and tempts to pull down the strongest of trees. We also are assaulted by howling winds in our lives. Sometimes that wind comes from a cruel statement, from someone who has no clue how much they’re risking your life falling down, by what they say. Some winds come from your job where you’re told you don’t have the muster to complete your daily work, and out the door you go. But some winds, the harshest winds, come from within yourself: Who am I to think I can beat this storm? Who am I to think I can measure up to this job? Who am I … The list goes on and on. Who you are is a child of the King and he is your protector. He closes his wings around you and says, “Just stay here until the storm passes.” Won’t you let him hold you? He waits to stand with you through the storms you face.
